Hi, I'm Mark Goodwin.

And I know a lot of us are facing increased insurance costs for our home insurance. Uh We are here to not only inform you and our clients but also to help navigate the insurance waters, whether that be tweaking some coverages or shopping, the marketplace for you.

One of the most common questions we hear about home insurance is so simple and very understandable.

Why are my rates going up? Now? I know that it can feel frustrating and confusing.

Uh The truth is there are a large number of reasons why you might see higher home insurance premiums and not all of them are things you can control if there is an increase in the cost of uh replacement materials like uh lumber or stone or in the cost of labor that will probably translate into higher premiums.

Now, likewise, if the value of your neighborhood is on the rise and therefore the value of your home is increasing, then it will cost more to insure.

I also can't forget to mention that if there is a large number of people in your area making insurance claims that could translate into higher rates as well.

Your insurance agent might be able to help you find ways to offset these cost increases. So do not be shy about contacting them to find out more.

Tip of the Week

Plant some herbs in a small container garden to add fresh flavors to your meals all season long.

Planting garlic cloves around your garden can help repel pests and keep your plants healthy during the spring months.

Interesting Facts to Share

  • The first day of spring, also known as the vernal equinox, is the day when the sun passes over the celestial equator and day and night are approximately equal in length.

  • Spring is the best time for spotting shooting stars, as the Earth passes through debris left by Halley's Comet during the Eta Aquarids meteor shower in late April and early May.

  • The arrival of spring is signaled by the blossoming of certain plants, such as cherry blossoms in Japan or bluebonnets in Texas, which are celebrated with festivals and events.

Leap Day!

Leap years typically have 366 days, with the extra day added to February once every four years to account for Earth's orbit around the sun taking 365.

This extra day is added after four years, creating a leap year with 29 days in February instead of the standard 28.

To commemorate this rare occurrence, one can engage in various leap day activities such as creating a time capsule, meeting with loved ones, trying something new, playing games, hosting a dinner party, or making a leap day playlist.

These activities help celebrate the unique date and create lasting memories until the next leap year in 2028.
